StyleTap Inc. has released a preview version of its emulator for Symbian OS, which allows smartphones running S60 and UIQ to run software written for the Palm OS.
It is compatible with the vast majority of applications originally written for Palm OS devices, and allows these applications to run, unmodified, on Nokia, Samsung, and Sony-Ericsson devices.
The new StyleTap Platform for Symbian OS supports all Nokia smartphones running S60 3rd Edition, the new Nokia touch UI devices running S60 5th Edition, and Sony-Ericsson devices running UIQ 3.0.
It includes support for hardware features such as screen rotation and the optical joystick on the Samsung i8510, and introduces a new screen rendering capability that StyleTap promises significantly improves the readability on QVGA (240 by 320 pixel) screens.
The preview version of this emulator is available now as a free 14-day trial, or it can be purchased for $49.95.
