CompanionLink Software has announced plans to release desktop synchronization software for devices running the new webOS, including the upcoming Palm Pre.
This application will offer two-way USB sync of contacts, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, calendar events, tasks, notes, and alarms and reminders between a webOS-based smartphone and the Palm Desktop, Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes, ACT! by Sage, and GoldMine.
Syncing Outside the Cloud
As its name suggests, Palm's webOS is focused on the Web. It has been designed to synchronize user data -- including calendar and contact information -- with online services like Google and Facebook.
While this has many advantages, there are many who would prefer to sync their data with applications on their desktop. CompanionLink's software will meet this need.
"CompanionLink will become the missing sync software between the Palm Pre and CRM solutions like ACT! by Sage," says Rushang Shah, Director of Marketing at CompanionLink Software. "Our software will automate that entire sync process for people who need the data on their Palm Pre."
This application will let users choose between wired (USB) sync and wireless (over-the-air) syncronization.
Coming When?
There is no word on when this application will be released, but it certainly won't be out before the Palm Pre is on the market, which is scheduled to happen in the first half of this year.
Pricing for CompanionLink's current mobile synchronization solutions starts at $49.95.
