An image has emerged that appears to give the best view yet of the HTC Sapphire, an upcoming smartphone based on Google's Android.
Details on this device are sketchy, with the image itself providing most of them. It will apparently have a tablet shape, but without the hardware keyboard on the HTC Dream (AKA T-Mobile G1). This will allow it to be thinner than its predecessor.
Presumably, this device will take advantage of the on-screen keyboard that Google is reportedly close to adding to Android.
Below the screen will be a trackball, and the back will sport a 3.2 megapixel camera.
Coming in Q2
The Sapphire was on an extensive list of future HTC models that recently leaked. According to this, the model is headed for Vodafone, T-Mobile, and DoCoMo.
Earlier unconfirmed reports have spoken of a second Android-based model from HTC that will supposedly debut in the first or second quarter of this year. The source for this leaked image reports that the Sapphire's launch will be in May.
