A major software update for the BlackBerry Storm has appeared on the Web. This features the addition of a full QWERTY keyboard in the portrait view, plus many user interface and browser performance enhancements.
The Storm already comes with a full-screen keyboard when the device's screen is in landscape mode, but not one for portrait mode.
Early reports from those who have installed this firmware update -- version OS 4.7.0.90 -- confirm the new keyboard, faster user interface response, and some tweaks to graphics within the user interface. Negative reports have included some bugs within the multimedia application including frozen devices.
Performing the Update
Because this is not an official release, those who are looking to use this update should be advised that they risk voiding RIM and carrier warranties in loading it to their devices.
