A model that appeared last fall as a simple featurephone is apparently getting an upgrade to a Windows Mobile smartphone.
When the first information on the Samsung Propel surfaced, this model was running a proprietary operating system. According to information that leaked out today, the Samsung Propel Pro will run Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard -- the latest version of Microsoft's OS for smartphones.
Few details are available, aside from what can be gleaned from the picture. This will clearly be a "slider", with a QWERTY keyboard that can be hidden behind its screen. The AT&T logo on this device makes it clear which wireless carrier its headed to.
It will apparently run the version of Windows Mobile for non-touchscreen devices, but its screen resolution is unknown.
According to the source of this image, the Propel Pro will support AT&T's 3G network, and include the optical mouse featured on several recent Samsung models.
When this smartphone will debut, or what it will cost, is not known at this time.
