Google has released a mobile version of Google Books. This allows iPhone and Android devices to access over 1.5 million public-domain books in the U.S. (and over half a million outside the US).
By going to books.google.com/m in their web browser, smartphone users can search for a title, author, or subject. Or they can browse the list of "Featured books" and various categories like business and economics, the classics, science and math, travel, and more.
Google only guarantees that this service works with the T-Mobile G1 and iPhone 3G, but some other smartphones with highly-functional browsers are able able to access it, too.
Naturally, Google Books Mobile is a free service, and only contains the full text of public-domain books.
