An image released on Nokia's N-Series Innovation website contains meta-data which points to a possible smartphone with an 8 megapixel camera being released at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) tradeshow.
The image -- a picture of a skateboarder taken in Barcelona, Spain, the site of the MWC -- gives some information about the camera resolution (3264x2448 pixels, F/2.8, 1/999sec shutter speed) and the lens (Carl Zeiss). However, the camera model is only noted as being "undisclosed."
Multiple Possible Announcements
While Nokia has announced that it will be present at MWC next week, what models, nor how many models, will be announced is not yet known.
Earlier this week, Nokia announced the 5630 XpressMusic. The recently-released E63 should also be making some rounds at the event. Leaked images of the E75 have come out as well, signaling a possible release of that model.
Nokia traditionally uses MWC as the announcing platform for most of its model line. Devices announced during this time come to market anywhere from 1 to 6 months after their unveiling.
The deliberate pointing to of this image may mean that, like the N97 last year, Nokia is looking to make sure that its high-end range is well represented in light of announced and leaked competition.
