After giving out some teaser details earlier this month, LG has formally announced the Arena KM900, an upcoming smartphone whose WVGA display and high-resolution video camera will give it an emphasis on multimedia playback and recording.
With its 3.0-inch WVGA display, the Arena will be able to play DivX or Xvid movies in Dolby Mobile surround sound
Its 5 MPx camera will be capable of recording DVD-quality video, and even 120 fps slow-motion video.
The Arena will offer up to 40 GB of storage for audio and video, thanks to its 8 GB of internal memory and a micro SD slot with support for 32 GB cards.
LG promises that the battery will offer up to 30 hours of MP3 playtime and 300 hours of standby time.
A Phone that Says "Touch Me"
The Arena will have a large touchscreen and LG's new S-Class 3D user interface. This will have a cube-based layout, and provide four customizable home screens for direct access to the phone's features.
"We surveyed consumers and found that they were unhappy with current interfaces. They wanted a simple, fast, and fun way to use multimedia and other features, but also an experience that was dynamic and interesting. We’ve done this so well with our brand new S-Class UI that it will set new standards for handsets in both functionality and fun,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President & CEO of LG Electronics Mobile.
Underneath the S-Class UI will be a proprietary operating system, not Windows Mobile as with some of this company's other recent devices.

Overall, it will be 106 mm by 55 mm by 12 mm, and it will be available in silver and black.
The LG Arena is expected to launch in Europe in March, and the company says it will be available globally later on.
