HTC has just announced the HTC Magic, which will be its second smartphone running Google's Android. This model will strongly resemble its predecessor, but lack the T-Mobile G1's hardware keyboard.
It will be released by Vodafone in several European countries this spring.
"The HTC Magic embodies the compact style and sophistication for which HTC has come to be known, with the powerful and intuitive Internet experience for which the Android platform was designed,” says Peter Chou, president and CEO, HTC Corporation.
More about the HTC Magic
This upcoming smartphone will run Google's Android OS on 528 MHz Qualcomm processor, and have 192 MB of RAM.
The Magic will come with the standard suite of Android software, much of which ties in to Google's online services, like Gmail and Google Maps.
This device will have a 3.2-inch touch-sensitive screen with a 320x480 (HVGA) resolution. As it will lack a hardware keyboard, text and numbers will be entered on-screen.
It will be a quad-band GSM phone with support for the 3G (UMTS/HSDPA) frequencies used in Europe. In addition, it will have Wi-Fi b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR.
Available Across Europe Soon
This new new handset will be exclusive to Vodafone in the UK, Spain, Germany, and France, and available on a non-exclusive basis in Italy.
Available in white in the UK, Spain, and France, black in Germany, and in both colors in Italy, this device will also be introduced by Vodafone in several other markets over the next few months.
