Those with a BlackBerry Storm from Verizon Wireless can now get a new version of Google Maps for mobile that utilizes this smartphone's internal GPS. This will result in greatly improved accuracy for My Location and Latitude.
This version of Google Maps gives users a basic navigation tool on their smartphone. Users can search for businesses, get turn-by-turn directions to addresses, and even use Street View.
This updated version can be downloaded from m.google.com/maps from the BlackBerry's browser.
This is a free application, but uses a large amount of data to download maps and routes.
The Storm is the first BlackBerry from Verizon that can do this. Older models from RIM, even ones with a built-in GPS receiver like the BlackBerry Pearl 8130, can't take advantage of this feature.
