Want to buy a smartphone but don't want to put down big bucks during these hard economic times? Consider getting something refurbished from AT&T. Some of this carrier's best devices, including the Apple iPhone 3G, can be found at surprisingly low prices and in good condition.
Refurbished devices aren't old, battle-scarred units that are being dumping on the market. As AT&T says:
Refurbished phones are previously owned devices that have been unused or lightly used and returned during the 30-day trial period. Each refurbished phone is independently quality tested and loaded with the latest software to meet current factory standards. Some refurbished devices will have minor scratches.
iPhone 3G for $99
This carrier is offering the iPhone 3G with 8 GB of storage for just $99; the regular price for a non-refurbished unit is $200. Getting this price requires agreeing to a two-year iPhone service contract, though.
A refurbished iPhone 3G with 16 GB of storage sells for $200, which is $100 off the regular price.

BlackBerry Bold 9000 for $250
While the BlackBerry Bold for $250 isn't as impressive as the iPhone 3G for just $99, the savings are actually higher. The Bold only launched a couple of months ago and normally sells for $400, even with a two-year contract, so buying a refurbished model saves $150.
