It might seem like there hasn't been a system software update for the BlackBerry Storm in several month, but actually there has been a nearly continuous stream of updates leaked to the public.
None of these are tremendously significant, as they generally don't include new features, but instead mark RIM's efforts to fix bugs and make this device more stable. Still, that's an important goal, as the Storm has been widely criticized for its lack of stability.
The latest of these to leak out is BlackBerry OS 4.7.0.109, which, like most of its predecessors, comes without a description. Still, those who would like to keep their Verizon Storm updated with the latest system software can download this update.
Note, however, that this is not an update that has been officially released RIM. Instead, it is software that has likely leaked out of a private beta program. It's possible installing it will make the smartphone less stable, rather than more.
An Overview of the BlackBerry Storm
This smartphone has a tablet shape with a 3.25-inch, 360-by-480-pixel display, with both landscape and portrait support. It doesn't have a built-in keyboard, so all text is entered on the display.
Verizon's version of this smartphone -- the 9530 -- has support for this carrier's EV-DO network, but doesn't stop there; to allow users to roam around the world, it also has a quad-band GSM and 2100 MHz HSDPA.
In addition, it includes Bluetooth 2.0 (but not Wi-Fi), a GPS receiver, and a 3.2 MPx camera with flash.
