Motorola has made no secret that it'sworking on phones based on Google's Android operating system, but so far has kept the details onthese underwraps. However, some images have appeared that might givea glimpse of the first one.
These pictures shows a device with a tablet shape and alarge touchscreen (see here). On its rear is a 5 MPx Kodak camera with Xenon flash.
In addition, one of the images indicates that this model will support video out.
Other Details?
The source of these pictures said that this device will run Android, but there's nothing on the images to confirm this. There's a small "Home" button on the front, but that's a feature of many Windows Mobile products, too.
Still,Motorola decided last year to base its flagship models on Android, making it more likely this phone will run Google's mobile OS.
On the other hand, a description of Motorola's first Android-based smartphone that leaked out last year said that it will have a sliding keyboard, which this one does not. But it's not unusual for rumors to contradict each other.
Unless Motorola decides to heavily modify the OS, it willalmost certainly come with the standard suite of Android software, much of which ties in to Google's online services, like Gmail and Google Maps.
Unfortunately, the source for these new imagesdidn't give any additional details, like the screen resolution, the device's dimensions, or -- most importantly -- when it will be released. The debut isn't going to be soon, though; Motorola said recently that it's not going to release any Android-based models until the fourth quarter of this year.
