Mio has taken the wraps off its latest navigation-oriented smartphone, the Explora K70. This Windows phone will have wQVGA touchscreen, 3G, and Wi-Fi.
This device will show users maps and turn-by-turn directions on its 3.5-inch, 240-by-400-pixel touchscreen, while its 3.0 MPx camera will be able to geo-tag the pictures it takes.
More than a GPS
The the Explora K70 will have a great deal in common with dedicated GPS receivers, but because it will be based on Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro, it will be able to do much more.
Microsoft's OS for smartphones comes with a suite of entertainment and productivity software. And its suite of Internet applications will be able to take advantage of the K70's mobile broadband.
This model will function as a quad-band GSM phone (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) with tri-band 3G (850/1900/2100 MHz), including HSDPA/HSUPA. In addition, it will have Wi-Fi and Stereo Bluetooth 2.1.
The K70 will be based on a 528 MHz processor from Qualcomm and have 128 MB RAM of RAM. In addition to its other features, it will have a microSD card slot, and a rotation sensor.
Overall, this device will be 115 mm by 61.5 mm by 11.9 mm, and weigh 115 g.
Mio did not announce when or where the Explora K70 will be released, or what it will sell for.
When it hits the market, this device will be up against other navigation-oriented smartphones, like the Garmin Nuvifone M20.
