Code-names and some details on quite a number of upcoming smartphones from HTC have emerged in recent weeks, and now a few more models have come to the surface.
This latest batch of unconfirmed information gives details like processor speeds, operating system versions, and screen sizes, but says nothing else about these upcoming model's form factors.
The one likely to attract the most interest is code-named SuperStar. It will supposedly run Windows Mobile 6.5 on a 600 MHz nVidia processor, the only HTC model using a chip from this company so far. This phone will include a 3.7 inch, WVGA touchscreen.
The HTC Star is also on this list. This will supposedly be another Windows Mobile 6.5 device, running a 600 MHz Qualcomm processor, and including a 3.6-inch, WVGA touchscreen.
Adding in the HTC Thoth -- a UMPC-type device with a 1 GHz Qualcomm processor that surfaced earlier -- HTC is supposedly working on three models running Windows Mobile 6.5. As Microsoft won't be finished with this new version until later this year, none of these are expected before the fourth quarter.
Windows Mobile 6.1 Models
There are a few more devices in the most recent leak that will run Windows Mobile 6.1 when they debut. It's possible any and all of these will receive operating system upgrades later on.
Two of these will supposedly run the Standard edition of this OS, and therefore not have touchscreens: the Chief#W and the Captain. Both are likely slightly different versions of the same model, with a 528 MHz processor, 2.4-inch, QVGA screen, and 128 MB of RAM.
The rest will be Pro models, with touchscreens and 528 MHz processors.
The Victor_CT will apparently be a relatively small device, as it will have 2.8-inch VGA display and just 128 MB of RAM. All the other Pro models will have 256 MB. The HTC Tachi will also have a 2.8-inch VGA screen.
The remaining models on the latest list -- the Whitestone, Rhodium, and Topaz -- have all been either already announced or described in previous leaked information. The HTC Whitestone will be the replacement for the HTC Touch HD, the Rhodium will be released as the HTC Touch Pro2, while the Topaz will debut as the HTC Touch Diamond2.
