A new version of the Google Mobile App for BlackBerry makes it easier for users to find what they are looking for with a minimal amount of texting in search terms.
Search Near My Location
This application now allows users to turn on the My Location option, and all searches will take location into account. Users can enter exactly what they are looking for without having to also add their location information.
For example, with this feature activated, a search for "McDonald's" will turn up a list of the closest restaurants, not the website for corporate headquarters. Previously, a user would have had to put in "MacDonald's Mytown" to get this same list.
Search by Voice
In addition, Google Mobile App for BlackBerry lets users search for items by saying their search terms aloud.
The most obvious use for this is make searching while driving easier, but Google doesn't encourage this. Instead, the company points out that voice searching eases the problems with oddly spelled items. For example, a voice search for "Lester Square" will turn up "Leicester Square," the correct spelling.
