Several sources have indicated that the HTC Touch Pro2 is on the way to T-Mobile, and now an image of this version has appeared on the Web.
The very first report on this model back in January was a leaked roadmap of future HTC products for 2009. This indicated that a model code-named Tungsten was headed for T-Mobile -- European and USA.
In February, HTC officially unveiled this device as the Touch Pro2, but has not yet officially announced any of the carriers that will release it. The company did say this phone will be available around the world starting in early summer.
According to the leaked roadmap, this won't be a T-Mobile exclusive by a long shot. Other versions are on the way to AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon.
An Overview of the HTC Touch Pro2
The Touch Pro2 will be a "slider," a smartphone with a landscape-oriented sliding QWERTY keyboard. It will also have a 3.6 inch, WVGA (800 by 480 pixel) touchscreen.
It mark the return of the slide-and-tilt screen that was a hallmark of an earlier smartphone from HTC, the AT&T Tilt.
The Touch Pro2 will debut with Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1, but make the jump to Windows Mobile 6.5 when this new version is available.
It will be built around a 528 MHz processor from Qualcomm, 288 MB of RAM, and a microSD card slot. It will also have a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera, a GPS receiver, and a 1500 mAh battery.
This HTC model will initially be available as a GSM device with 3G, including 7.2 Mbps HSDPA. It will also offer Wi-Fi b/g and Stereo Bluetooth. A CDMA version with EV-DO is expected later.
The Touch Pro2 will be 4.6 inches by 2.3 inches by 0.7 inches , and weigh 6.17 ounces with battery.
