The long wait is almost over for those in the U.S. who have been hoping for a carrier-banded version of the Nokia E71, as AT&T has just finally committed to releasing this device. And there's even better news: it's going to sell for less than had been rumored.
This smartphone will be based on Symbian S60 and offer 3G and Wi-Fi, plus a wide variety of third-party applications, including AT&T Navigator.
It will have a focus on messaging, and allow users to keep up with their corporate or personal email when on the go.
At just 10 millimeters thick, the Nokia E71x will still sport a QWERTY keyboard, aGPS, and a black steel finish.
It will include a 3.2 MPx camera, and support AT&T's Video Share service.
Pricing and Availability
AT&T says the Nokia E71x will be available in the coming weeks, but didn't get any more specific than that. According to unconfirmed reports, this device was originally scheduled to be released last week, but technical problems have delayed it.
It will sell for $100 with contract and mail-in rebate, which is less than had been rumored.

For those who don't want to wait for a carrier-branded version, the generic Nokia E71 is also available unlocked from a variety of retailers for $320 - $370.
