The newly-announced Samsung Mondi is part of an emerging class: the Mobile Internet Device. This means it will be a portable computer bigger than a phone but smaller than a laptop. This upcoming model will run Windows Mobile and sport WiMax, a 4.3-inch touchscreen, and a sliding keyboard.
The Mondi was developed for use with the Clear Mobile WiMax service from Clearwire, a 4G wireless networking standard that is being rolled out around the U.S. this year.
This MID will also offer Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but will not function as a phone
It will be loaded with other features too, including HDMI TV Out, GPS, 4 GB of internal storage, and a 3 MPx camera.
Any good MID needs a good web browser, and the Mondi will come with Opera Mobile 9.5.
In addition, Samsung is emphasizing the video playback, email, and social networking potential for this device.
Coming When?
Although Samsung has announced the Mondi, the release date doesn't seem to be coming any time soon.
No pricing information is available at this time, either.
