Verizon Launching HTC Touch Diamond at Long Last

Continuing its long-held practice of introducing most of its smartphones well after its competitors, Verizon Wireless is launching the HTC Touch Diamond today.

This model was first introduced for GSM carriers last summer, and Sprint debuted it in the fall.

Verizon's version will, naturally, have much in common with the ones from other carriers, but a few changes have been made. The most notable of these is that the 4 GB of internal Storage have been replaced with a microSD card slot, upping the potential Storage capacity, but the amount of RAM has been reduced  -- 192 MB vs. 288 MB.

In addition, this carrier's version will have EV-DO Rev. A, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

This smartphone doesn't have a hardware keyboard, but instead is focused on its 2.76-inch VGA touchscreen. 

It runs Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro, and also offers an alternate user interface called TouchFLO 3D that's makes the device easier to control with a fingertip.

Other features include GPS and a 3.2 MPx camera.

Pricing and Availability
The HTC Touch Diamond is available from Verizon for $300 after a $70 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.

It is being sold  through business sales channels and verizonwireless.com.

As mentioned earlier, it is also available from Sprint, and as an unlocked model for GSM carriers.
