Despite Illness, Steve Jobs Helped Design iPhone 3.0

Apple CEO Steve Jobs went on medical leave early this year, but he still took part in the design of the iPhone 3.0 software update that was announced in March.

Jobs continues to work from home on Apple's most important projects, according to the Wall Street Journal, and he took a special interest in the user interface changes that are part of the iPhone 3.0 update that will be released this summer.

Apple's co-founder has always been heavily involved in the design of his company products, and many credit him with the success of Apple's digital music player and smartphone. This is why there was such concern when he took a leave of absence in January.

Other Projects
In addition to the new iPhone software, Steve Jobs is reportedly taking an interest in his company's development of future products, including the netbook/tablet that may or may not be on the drawing board. The new version of the iPhone software will supposedly run this device, as well as the third-generation smartphone that's expected this summer.

Jobs underwent treatment for pancreatic cancer several years ago, and still suffers from some lingering health effects. Apple says he will return from medical leave in June.
