Google has released a version of its product search service for some smartphones. This has been available for PCs for some time, but the new version has been tuned for the iPhone and Android-based devices.
Google Product Search gives information like prices, ratings, reviews, and product details from all over the Web. And for products like electronics and video games, there are dedicated pages that include ratings charts and technical specifications.
To try out this service on an iPhone 3G or T-Mobile G1, go to Google.com, type in a query, and then tap on the "shopping" link that appears in the search results. Or, tap on the "more" tab and then "shopping" to get to it directly.
As with virtually all Google's online services, Product Search is free.
