AT&T's BlackJack series has been the best selling franchise in Windows Mobile history, and the latest model will hit store shelves next week.
Like its predecessors -- the original BlackJack and BlackJack II, the Samsung Jack will have a focus on mobile messaging -- both business and personal. It will have a QWERTY keyboard below its non-touch QVGA display, making it easier for users to enter SMS texts, instant messaging, and e-mail.
The Jack will debut running Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard, but will be upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5 when it is available this fall. This means it will include Microsoft Outlook Mobile for synchronization of schedules and contacts, Internet Explorer Mobile for Web browsing, and Office Mobile for working with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents.
Other features will include Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g), Bluetooth, and a 3.2 megapixel camera with video-capture capabilities.
Its GPS will support AT&T Navigator, and other location-based applications.
Availability and Pricing
The Samsung Jack will be released exclusively by AT&T on May 19.
There is no word yet on pricing for this Windows phone.
UPDATE: The Jack is now available from AT&T for $99 with two-year contract and a $100 mail-in rebate.
