T-Mobile Prepping Four Android-Based Phones this Year

T-Mobile has made no secret of the fact that it sees Google's Android playing a significant part of its future, but this carrier is being a bit more reticent about details on upcoming devices. That hasn't stopped the rumormill, though.

In the last few weeks, word has slipped out on three Android phones headed to T-Mobile, and now a report on a fourth has emerged. 

According to a product roadmap that has slipped out of this carrier, a Motorola model code-named Morrison will hit the market just in time for the holiday shopping season.

Almost nothing is known about this phone, aside from the fact that it will run Google's operating system for smartphones and what can be divined from a single, very small image. This shows that the Morrison will have a sliding, landscape-oriented keyboard.

It will have the same general shape as the Samsung Calgary, another Android-based model that's reportedly on its way to Verizon.

T-Mobile USA is expected to launch the Morrison in November or December, but pricing is not yet known.

The Other Three
Cole Brodman, T-Mobile USA's Chief Technology Officer said recently that his company is going to release Android models from three different makers in the second half of this year. Unconfirmed reports name these: HTC, Samsung, and Motorola.

The one that expected this summer will be the myTouch 3G -- a version of the HTC Sapphire, which recently debuted in Europe as the HTC Magic. This device has a tablet shape with an HVGA Touchscreen and a trackball on its front.  It depends on its on-screen keyboard for text input, as there is no hardware one.

Samsung is reportedly making two models with different designs running Android 2.0..

The Samsung Bigfoot will have a landscape-oriented sliding keyboard, and will be the replacement for the T-Mobile G1. It will reportedly have a 3-inch QVGA touchscreen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, a 3 MPx camera, and a microSD card slots.

The second Android device from Samsung will supposedly be code-named the Houdini. This will supposedly be a version of the recently-announced Samsung I7500, which will have a tablet shape with a 3.2-inch, HVGA OLED touchscreen, mobile broadband, and Wi-Fi.

As confirmation, the FCC recently approved the I7500 with support for T-Mobile USA's unusual 3G frequency.

Like the Bigfoot, the Houdini will be released this fall for an as-yet-undisclosed price.
