To the disappointment of many, Palm, Inc. has admitted that the upcoming Palm Pre won't offer Sprint's Visual Voicemail.
Visual Voicemail is a service that gives users some information about their voice messages without having to listen to them. It displays on the user's phone's screen the name of the person who left each voicemail and how long it is.
In response to a question on its Twitter account, Palm says that its highly-anticipated smartphone won't offer this feature.
SpinVox To the Rescue?
Those who are disappointed by this announcement might be interested in SpinVox's Visible Voicemail, a service which takes voicemail messages and turns them into SMS messages sent to a mobile device.
It does more than just give a few details about voice messages; it converts the message to text and sends it to the user.
SpinVox Visible Voicemail costs $5-$10 a month, and is available on its developer's website. More information ca be found on in this Brighthand review.
