T-Mobile has either cut the prices for many of its BlackBerrys, stopped requiring mail-in rebates, or both. This includes new models and ones that have been in its product line-up for some time.
When this carrier released the BlackBerry Curve 8900 in February it sold for $200 with a two-year contract and $100 mail-in rebate. Today it's going for $150 with contract but no mail-in rebate.
The Pearl Flip 8220, the first BlackBerry with a clamshell design, is selling for $100. This still requires a mail-in rebate, but is $50 less than the launch price.
The older Curve 8320 is $75 and the Curve 8820 is $100, neither of which requires a rebate.
And finally, it's not a BlackBerry but it's very similar -- the T-Mobile Dash is now going $40 with no rebate. Previously this device -- which is expected to be replaced soon -- was selling for $100 after a mail-in rebate.
Naturally, the obligatory two-year contract is still required to get all these prices.
Not Just T-Mobile
This isn't the only carrier to drop BlackBerry prices this week. On Wednesday, AT&T cut the cost of the BlackBerry Bold and the BlackBerry Curve 8900.
No reason was given for any of these price cuts, but the weak economy is surely playing a part.
