Opera Software is now giving the world a chance to try out Opera Mobile 9.7, a new version of its web browser for Windows Mobile smartphones.
The newly released public beta features Opera Turbo, the company's compression technology that offloads Web page rendering to Opera servers.
It also includes the company's latest Presto 2.2 rendering engine -- the same engine used in Opera desktop. The company claims this will display Web pages up to 25% faster
Opera Mobile 9.7 also has full support for dynamic Web technologies such as Ajax and Flash for accessing popular sites like Facebook and YouTube.
This browser also includes hardware acceleration, Open GL ES, and support for Google Gears.
There are other mobile browsers on the market that claim to be faster and more Web site-compatible on Windows-based phones, but I challenge users to take Opera Mobile for a test drive and discover a new standard for speed and compatibility,” said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software
