Apple has released an upgrade for the system software and bundled applications on the iPhone 3G. This brings many of the features in the upcoming iPhone 3G S to the currrent model.
Most of the enhancements in the iPhone 3.0 software are ones that users have been asking for since Apple's smartphone debued back in 2007, including support for cut/copy/paste, MMS, and Stereo Bluetooth.
It also adds support for peer-to-peer gaming, voice memos, push notifications, and tethering.
In addition, there are a number of improvments made to the built-in applications.

The upgrade to iPhone 3.0 is available now. To install it, connect the phone to a computer running iTunes 8 or greater.
This upgrade is also available for the original iPhone.
