T-Mobile Will Take the Wraps Off Its Second Android Phone Next Week

Last night, T-Mobile USA promised to reveal more details on its next phone running Google's Android operating system next week.

This carrier has been hinting about this model for several weeks. Early this month, it promised that this smartphone will hit the market this summer.

However, it has not yet said anything specific on its second Android-based device.

What the Rumors Say
T-Mobile has generally been keeping its lips shut, but the rumormill has been working overtime. According to unconfirmed reports, the phone that T-Mobile is hinting about will be the myTouch 3G -- a version of the HTC Sapphire, which recently debuted in Europe as the HTC Magic.

This device has a tablet shape with a 3.2-inch HVGA Touchscreen and a trackball on its front.  It depends on its on-screen keyboard for text input, as there is no hardware one.

The Sapphire/Magic runs Android 1.5 on 528 MHz Qualcomm processor, and has 192 MB of RAM. The Magic comes with the standard suite of Android software, much of which ties in to Google's online services, like Gmail and Google Maps.

It has 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, as well as a microSD card slot.

This model is not expected to replace the Mobile G1, but to be an additional option for consumers.
