A new messaging-oriented smartphone from Sprint has been available only from Best Buy and some Radio Shack locations for the past few weeks, but the HTC Snap is now available on this carrier's website too.
It is a half-inch thick, yet includes a full keyboard with domed keys, 2.4-inch QVGA display, and a trackball.
This model runs Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard on a 528 MHz processor, and comes with the standard suite of entertainment and productivity software, including a web browser, video player, Office suite, and much more.
In addition, HTC is debuting its Inner Circle feature in this device. This brings emails from a preselected group of people to the top of the user's inbox, enabling important messages to be acted upon immediately.
More Hardware Details
The Snap has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0, and support for Sprint's mobile broadband service.
It also has a GPS receiver, a 2.0 megapixel camera, and a microSD card slot.
Overall, this model is 4.5 inches tall, 2.5 inches wide, and 0.5 inches thick, while it weighs 4.2 oz.
Sprint says its 1500 mAh battery is good for up to 4.0 hours of continuous talk time.
Pricing & Availability
The HTC Snap is going for $150 with a two-year service contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate.
It can be found now on Sprint's website.
