T-Mobile May Be Releasing the HTC Touch Pro2 in Mid-August

All of the top wireless phone companies in the U.S. are expected to launch the HTC Touch Pro2, and there's currently something of a race on to see who will be first. This honor may go to T-Mobile, who is now expected to release this high-end smartphone next month.

This device will be released on August 12, if an unconfirmed report is true. It's not clear if that will be soon enough to beat AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon, all of whom are supposedly prepping versions of this model.

The Touch Pro2 will be replacement for the T-Mobile Wing, and will supposedly be called the Wing II.

There is no word yet on pricing for this device.

An Overview of the HTC Touch Pro2
The Touch Pro2 will have a 3.6 inch, WVGA (800 by 480 pixel) touchscreen and a landscape-oriented sliding QWERTY keyboard. It will mark the return of the slide-and-tilt screen that was a hallmark of an earlier smartphone from HTC, the AT&T Tilt.

The Touch Pro2 will debut with Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1, but make the jump to Windows Mobile 6.5 when this new version is available.

It will be built around a 528 MHz processor from Qualcomm, 288 MB of RAM, and a microSD card slot. It will also have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera, a GPS receiver, and a 1500 mAh battery.

This version of the Pro2 is also expected to offer 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
