T-Mobile Confirms It's Releasing the HTC Touch Pro2 Soon

Rumors and leaks have indicated for months that T-Mobile USA is going to release the HTC Touch Pro2, and now this wireless phone company has confirmed it.

A message was sent out on this carrier's official Twitter feed that says:

Windows Mobile fans - HTC Touch Pro2 coming to a holster near you this summer!

There were no additional details, given, such as the price, or exactly when the debut will be. According to an unconfirmed report, the release is scheduled for August 12.This model will have a 3.6 inch, WVGA (800 by 480 pixel) touchscreen and a landscape-oriented sliding QWERTY keyboard. It will mark the return of the slide-and-tilt screen that was a hallmark of an earlier smartphone from HTC, the AT&T Tilt.

The Touch Pro2 will debut with Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1, but make the jump to Windows Mobile 6.5 when this new version is available.

It will be built around a 528 MHz processor from Qualcomm, 288 MB of RAM, and a microSD card slot. It will also have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera, a GPS receiver, and a 1500 mAh battery.

This version of the Pro2 is also expected to offer 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

Not Just T-Mobile
The HTC Touch Pro2 is expected to be one of the hottest devices of the fall, and is reportedly on its way to a wide range of wireless carriers, including AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon.

It's possible one of these carriers might beat T-Mobile in getting this smartphone on the U.S. market first.
