The Nokia Surge will be released by AT&T next week. This low-cost S60 smartphone will have an emphasis on social networking.
It will have a relatively slim design, but still have room for a sliding QWERTY keyboard and a 2.4-inch screen.
The Surge will be based on Symbian S60 3.2, and support for IM, texting, and email will be just the start of its social networking capabilitiers. This device will allow users to post messages, images, videos, and comments to web sites like Facebook with the pre-installed JuiceCaster application.
It will also have an HTML web browser with Adobe Flash, allowing users to watch YouTube videos. In addition, a music player and FM radio will be included.
This Nokia model won't be all consumer oriented; it will also let users access their corporate email from a Microsoft Exchange server.
The Surge will be a quad-band GSM phone with dual-band 3.6 Mbps HSDPA. it will also have stereo Bluetooth.
Other features will include a 2.0 megapixel camera, microSD card slot, and A-GPS with support for the AT&T Navigator service.
Pricing and Availability
The Nokia Surge will be available through select AT&T retail locations or at www.wireless.att.com on July 19.
It will cost $80 with an aplicable two-year service agreement and after a $50 mail-in rebate.
