Nokia Turns Ovi Files into a Free Service

Nokia's file sharing service, Ovi Files, has been turned into a totally free service. Ovi Files enables a mobile device to access files saved on a remote PC/Mac through the use of a browser and the Ovi Connector software running on the desktop computer. 

Formerly, Ovi Files came in as free, limited-trial, and premium offerings. As of last week, Nokia has made this service available to all for free. Current subscribers to the Ovi Files service will be refunded the remaining balance left on the subscribed service plan.

More About Ovi Files
This service was developed out of Nokia's acquisition of the Avvenu file sharing service. It basically acts the same way as Avvenu did: any mobile device with a web browser can access files shared on a PC/Mac that has been registered with the Ovi Files service.

Nokia's version adds a component called Anytime Files, which stores files on the Ovi servers so that it can be accessed even when the host PC/Mac is not online.
