More Evidence Points to T-Mobile Launching the HTC Touch Pro2 in Mid-August

It appears that T-Mobile USA customers who are eager to get their hands on the HTC Touch Pro2 won't have much longer to wait: multiple sources now say the launch date for this high-end Windows phone will be Aug. 12.

This wireless carrier has committed to offering this smartphone by the end of the summer, but the actual date hasn't been confirmed.

Everything But the Kitchen Sink
The Touch Pro2 is expected to replace the aged T-Mobile Wing, and will be a very significant step forward. The most notable enhancement will be a 3.6 inch, WVGA (800 by 480 pixel), touchscreen, vs. the QVGA display on the current model.

These two devices will have the same basic shape -- a slider with landscape-oriented QWERTY keyboard. The Touch Pro2 will mark the return of the slide-and-tilt screen that was a hallmark of an earlier smartphone from HTC, the AT&T Tilt.

This upcoming phone will debut with Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1, but make the jump to Windows Mobile 6.5 when this new version is available.

It will be built around a 528 MHz processor from Qualcomm, 288 MB of RAM, and a microSD card slot. It will also have a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera, a GPS receiver, and a 1500 mAh battery.

This version of the Pro2 is also expected to offer support for T-Mobile's 3G network, as well as Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

An image of this carrier's upcoming version of this phone has leaked out.

There is no word yet on pricing for this device.
