It's Official: HTC Touch Pro2 Coming to T-Mobile in Two Weeks

T-Mobile USA has just announced that it will release HTC's latest high-end Windows phone, the Touch Pro2, in two weeks.

This wireless phone company still hasn't reveled the price, but said today that this smartphone will debut on Aug. 12.

An Overview of the HTC Touch Pro2
The official announcement confirmed what the earlier rumors had said. The Touch Pro2 will replace the T-Mobile Wing, which debuted over two years ago, and the new model will be an improvement in almost every aspect. 

The upcoming model will have a 3.6 inch, WVGA (800 by 480 pixel) touchscreen and a landscape-oriented QWERTY keyboard. The Touch Pro2 will mark the return of the slide-and-tilt screen that was a hallmark of an earlier smartphone from HTC, the AT&T Tilt.

This phone will run Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 on a 528 MHz processor from Qualcomm, with 288 MB of RAM. It could make the jump to Windows Mobile 6.5 when this new version is available, but T-Mobile didn't commit to that today.

This version of the Pro2 is going to offer support for T-Mobile's 3G network, as well as Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

Other features will include a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera, a GPS receiver, a microSD card slot, and a 1500 mAh battery.

The HTC Touch Pro2 will be available in two weeks at T-Mobile retail stores, select authorized dealers, and at T-Mobile.com.

More Than Just T-Mobile
The HTC Touch Pro2 is expected to be one of the hottest devices of the fall, and is reportedly on its way to a wide range of wireless carriers, including AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon.

According to an unconfirmed report, work has finished on the system software for both Sprint's and Verizon's versions, a sign that the release might not be too far away.
