Apple has released a new version of the iPhone's system software that fixes a serious security flaw in this smartphone's system software.
This flaw allows outsiders to gain root access to Apple's phones without the permission of the owner, simply through SMS messages
This bug was exposed this week by Charlie Miller, one of the writers of The Mac Hacker’s Handbook. Miller told Apple about the problem a month ago, giving it time to prepare this update.
There don't appear to be any other features in the updated version of the system software.
Installation
Apple has released a version of iPhone OS 3.0.1 for the original iPhone, the iPhone 3G, and the iPhone 3G S.
To install it, connect the smartphone to a desktop or laptop running iTunes.
