One of the Android-based smartphones reportedly on T-Mobile's docket is the replacement for the G1: a Motorola device code-named the Morrison. This upcoming model will reportedly hit the market in the middle of this fall.
The T-Mobile G1 was created by HTC, while its successor will, obviously, not be. Aside from that, though, these two will apparently have much in common, especially their designs, which both feature sliding, landscape-oriented QWERTY keyboards.
More confirmation of the Morrison surfaced recently, when a device bearing this name appeared in T-Mobile's database of products.
In addition, a new unconfirmed report says the scheduled release date is Wednesday, October 21.
What Little We Know
At this point, very little information is available about this upcoming Motorola device. Virtually everything known comes from a few leaked images, such as the one to the left.
Another recent image confirmed that this unannounced model will run Google's Android OS, virtually solidifying its role as the replacement for the G1 in T-Mobile's product lineup.
As an Android-based smartphone, it's expected to come with a suite of software with tie-ins to Google's online services, like Gmail and Google Maps.
If it truly will replace the G1, it will need most of the same features: 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a GPS receiver.
There has been no word about the price for the Motorola Morrison
