TeleNav GPS Navigator will be available for the T-Mobile myTouch 3G when it launches tomorrow. Users will be able to try out this turn-by-turn GPS navigation service with a free 30-day trial.
This Android-based smartphone will come bundled with Google's basic navigation software, but TeleNav's service offers more: speech recognition, traffic alerts with one-click rerouting, more than 10 million business listings, gas prices, weather updates, and restaurant reviews.
This software includes full-color 3D moving maps along with voice and on-screen turn-by-turn driving directions. Navigation is available in both landscape and portrait mode.
Unlike with Google Maps Mobile, if drivers miss a turn, they are automatically rerouted. And this service monitors the driver's route and watches for traffic congestion or incidents. If any occurs, the driver is alerted and can easily choose to find another route to their location.
TeleNav GPS Navigator also includes speech recognition for both address entry and business search. On the myTouch 3G , customers will be able to press a button and say the name of a business or the address and directions will be provided.
In addition, the service includes frequently updated gas price listings and location-based weather information.
Pricing and Availability
TeleNav GPS Navigator for the T-Mobile G1 is available available on TeleNav's web site, and those buying a T-Mobile myTouch 3G will be able to get it on Aug. 5, when this device goes on sale in retail stores and online.
After the free period, customers can continue the service for $9.99 per month for unlimited use.
