Two smartphones that have appeared in recent rumors -- the HTC Mega and HTC Click -- might be released as early as next month.
Both of these will be entry-level models, but they will have one significant difference: operating system. Information that has leaked out about the Mega shows that it will run Microsoft's Windows Mobile, while the Click will be based on Google's Android OS.
According to an unconfirmed report in the Economic Daily News, these two models will be released at the end of Q3 or in early Q4, which means in the September or October timeframe.
There is no word yet on where they will be released -- Asia, Europe, or the Americas.
An Overview of the HTC Mega
This upcoming smartphone will apparently be one of the first to debut with Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro, the next version of this operating system from Microsoft.
However, this doesn't mean the Mega will be a cutting-edge device. For example, it will have only a relatively small, low-resolution display: 2.8 inches and 240 by 320 pixels.
This phone will reportedly run Windows Mobile on a 528 MHz Qualcomm processor, with 256 MB of RAM.
The Mega will be a GSM-based device with HSDPA. It will also allegedly include a 3 MPx fixed-focus camera and a GPS receiver.
An Overview of the HTC Click
Very few details on the HTC Click have surfaced yet, aside from the fact tat this will be a low-cost smartphone running Android.
What little else is known has been drawn from an image that leaked out earlier (see here).
