An unannounced smartphone -- the Samsung Instinct HD -- now appears on Best Buy's website, giving the world its best look so far at this upcoming model.
The Instinct series is a collaboration between Samsung and Sprint, and so it's no surprise what carrier will be offering this phone.
The image leaked by Best Buy shows that the HD will have the same tablet shape as its predecessors, but its name suggests it might have a higher resolution touchscreen than the 240-by-432-pixel one on earlier models.
On the other hand, the "HD" might refer to its video capabilities -- it will sport a 5 MPx camera capable of recording videos in High Definition, and then playing them through a TV-out connection.
Eralier this month, Sprint revealed that it will release its first phone with AM-OLED display by the end of this year. It also said that this device will be made by Samsung. It's possible that the Instinct HD is the one Sprint was referring to.
Some New, Some Old
This will be the first in this series with Wi-Fi, in addition to EV-DO mobile broadband.
The Instinct HD will apparently use the same proprietary user interface as the current versions.
Best Buy did not reveal when this smartphone will be released, aside from a vague "coming soon."
This Samsung model appeared in previous rumors as the "Instinct s50", but Best Buy has apparently revealed the actual name.
