A document has leaked out of Verizon Wireless, showing when this carrier expects to release a number of highly-anticipated smartphones in the coming months.
This list has good news for those waiting for the BlackBerry Storm 2. A previous rumor had said this model wouldn't be out in the U.S. until late November, but today's report says it will be released in October.
According to unconfirmed reports, RIM's next high-end model will greatly resemble its current one, the original BlackBerry Storm, but with a few enhancements, most notably the addition of Wi-Fi.
Android and More
The leaked document also shows that Verizon will release its first Android-based device in late October. This Motorola model -- code-named Sholes -- will have a WVGA+ screen that slides up to expose a landscape-oriented QWERTY keyboard.
Also on this list is a model called the HTC Razzle/Blitz 2, which is described as being a "low-cost qwerty device." No other information is available, aside from its scheduled release time: late October.
The Storm 2 won't be the only RIM device being released by Verizon this fall. A model being called the BlackBerry Curve 2, which is likely a member of the new Curve 8500 series, is on the docket for late November.
Other models revealed by this leaked document include the Nokia Twist 7705 and the Samsung Intensity, both scheduled for September. Virtually nothing is known about these two, just that the Intensity will have a sliding, landscape-oriented keyboard.
The Samsung Alias 2, which just debuted a few months ago, is set to be replaced by the Samsung Rogue later this month. And the LG Dare is is going to be replaced by the LG Chocolate Touch in October.
