Sprint's HTC Touch Pro2 Is NOT Getting a Price Cut

A rumor that Sprint is about to cut the price of its version of the HTC Touch Pro2 is getting a great deal of publicity today. However, an official spokesperson for this carrier has informed Brighthand that this report is mostly incorrect.

Sprint introduced this high-end Windows phone earlier this month at $350 with two-year contract. Verizon launched it just a couple of days later at $200 with contract, and the unconfirmed report says Sprint is going to drop its price to match its rivals.

According to the Sprint spokesperson, this is not the case. Apparently, there is some confusion about a new discount going into effect for large corporate customers.

She wrote:

Starting tomorrow, the price drop for HTC TouchPro2 from Sprint is only available to corporate liable customers with 100+ lines. All other channels will sell at original price $349.99 with a two-year service agreement and after $100 mail-in rebate.

An Overview of the HTC Touch Pro2
This high-end smartphone offers a 3.6-inch WVGA screen, sliding keyboard, mobile broadband, Wi-Fi, and worldphone capabilities.

It runs Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro, but an upgrade to 6.5 is expected to be released later.

On top of the standard Microsoft user interface is the latest version of HTC's TouchFLO 3D UI, which has been designed to make the device easier to use with a fingertip, rather than a stylus.

Other features include a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera, a GPS receiver, 3.5 mm audio jack, a microSD card slot, and a 1500 mAh battery.
