AT&T Fuze Is Gone, Replacement Is Coming Soon

The AT&T Fuze, this carrier's version of the HTC Touch Pro, appears to have been discontinued. This opens the way for the release of its successor, which is expected to happen later this month.

This Windows phone, which debuted last year, is no longer listed on this carrier's consumer site, and its business site lists it as "Out of Stock".

According to numerous sources, its replacement will be called the AT&T Tilt2, but will be a version of the HTC Touch Pro2.

A Brief Overview of the AT&T Tilt2
There is little room for doubt that AT&T plans a smartphone called the Tilt2, as it appears on several product lists that have leaked out of this carrier.

As the original AT&T Tilt was a high-end Windows phone from HTC with a slide-and-tilt display, it's only logical that the Tilt2 name be put on HTC's latest Windows Mobile-based device with this same design -- the Touch Pro2.

Both T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon have already introduced versions of this smartphone, so virtually all the details on it are known. 

Still, AT&T's will be slightly different. The other versions debuted with Windows Mobile 6.1, but the Tilt2 is expected to be one of the first devices running Windows Mobile 6.5.

Like all versions of the Touch Po2, it will be a "slider," a smartphone with a landscape-oriented sliding QWERTY keyboard. It will also also have a 3.6 inch, WVGA (800 by 480 pixel) touchscreen.

It will be built around a 528 MHz processor from Qualcomm, and probably have 288 MB of RAM and a microSD card slot.

AT&T's version will supposedly have support for this carrier's high-speed 3G network. It will also have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera, a GPS receiver, and a 1500 mAh battery.

Coming Soon
The AT&T Tilt2 will reportedly cost $300 with a two-year contract and mail-in rebate. That will put it below the price of T-Mobile and Sprint's versions of this smartphone ($350 with contract and MIR), but above Verizon's ($200 with contract and MIR). 

Unconfirmed reports say this smartphone will debut on Oct. 18.
