Samsung Intrepid Will Be Sprint's First Windows Mobile 6.5 Device

Sprint has just unveiled the Samsung Intrepid, which is going to be its first smartphone running the new Windows Mobile 6.5. This device will have a QVGA screen, built-in keyboard, and worldphone capabilities.

The Intrepid will have a tablet design, with a 2.5-inch touchscreen with a QVGA (320x240) resolution. Below this will be a QWERTY keyboard.

In addition to support for Sprint's CDMA network in the U.S., this model will be able to connect to GSM networks in other regions of the world, allowing users to make calls when traveling internationally.

When it comes to wireless data, the Intrepid is going to be able to access Sprint's EV-DO Rev. A mobile broadband service. It will also have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

A New OS

It is going to be bundled with a suite of entertainment and productivity applications that are mobile versions of many of Microsoft's desktop apps: Outlook, Office, Internet Explorer, and Windows Media player. These can handle everything from e-mail to streaming video.

Other features will include a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32 GB cards,and a 3.2 MPx camera.

Pricing & Availability
The Samsung Intrepid will sell for $150 with a new line or eligible upgrade, a two-year service agreement, and after a $100 mail-in rebate

It will debut on Sunday, October 11 at Sprint stores, sprint.com, and other retailers.
