Asus has said multiple times that it is going to use Google's Android OS, but it hasn't done so yet. However, this company's CEO said recently that it is almost ready to put its products where its mouth is.
Jonney Shih promised that Asus' first Android-based smartphone would be unveiled before the end of this year. He did not reveal any details on this device, though.
It's possible this model is being developed in conjunction with Garmin, as these two have previously announced that they are working together on a line of location-centric smartphones.
Asus had originally hoped to enter the Android market in the first half of this year. It also briefly showed off a laptop powered by Android, but it's not clear if this device will ever be released.
