Palm Pixi Selling for Just $25

The Palm Pixi, the second webOS-powered smartphone, is set to be released this weekend. The official price is $100, but one online retailer has undercut that by a wide margin.

LetsTalk.com is taking pre-orders for this device at just $30 $50. However, this price is only available for new Sprint customers who are willing to agree to a two-year service contract of $69.99 a month or more.

UPDATE: This retailer still has a low price for new Sprint customers buying a Pixi, but this has moved up from $30 to $50.

UPDATE 2: Wirefly is asking $25 for this smartphone, but this deal is also available only to new Sprint subscribers.

The Pixi's price for customers extending an already-existing contract is $250, and the cost without contract is $500.

This smartphone will debut exclusively from Sprint this Sunday, Nov. 15.

An Overview of the Palm Pixi
This upcoming device's 2.6-inch, 320-by-400-pixel, capacitive touchscreen will be smaller and have a lower resolution screen than the current model, the Palm Pre.

As mentioned earlier, this will be the second smartphone running Palm's webOS, a multi-tasking operating system able to wirelessly synchronize a wide variety of data with online services like Google, Facebook, and Microsoft Exchange.

It will come with a highly-capable web browser, email software, and multimedia player. Additional third-party applications will also be available.

Sprint's version of the Pixi will include EV-DO mobile broadband. It will also have Bluetooth, but not Wi-Fi.

It won't replace the Palm Pre in Sprint's product lineup -- rather it will be a second option.
