Microsoft Office Mobile 2010 Beta Now Available

Microsoft is launching Office 2010, and this includes a version for Windows phones. This has a new tools for sharing documents and ensuring they look as expected.

Like its predecessors, this suite of apps lets users edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, and there's also a version of OneNote.

A frequent concern when taking files created on a desktop to a mobile device is that some of the formatting will be be lost in transferring. Microsoft promises that Office Mobile 2010 will preserve rich formatting, such as tables, charts and SmartArt graphics.

Access Files Online
In addition, this suite of apps now includes SharePoint Workspace Mobile 2010. This lets users browse document libraries, open files for viewing or editing, and save them directly back to the server.

Users of this software can automatically sync documents between their smartphone and the server — when a file is modified on the server, the copy on your smartphone will be updated automatically.

Availability
The beta version of Office Mobile 2010 is available now for those with a Windows Mobile 6.5 device.
