Mysterious Firmware Update Released for Sprint's HTC Hero

Sprint and HTC have released a system software update for the HTC Hero. However, they have done so without revealing any of the changes that are included.
The only official announcement appears on Sprint's online forum for users, and it just says "Firmware update is available people!!!!!".
Those who have this smartphone should expect their phone to automatically receive this update, ask for permission to install itself, and then reboot a couple of times.
Unconfirmed reports say that this will change the firmware to version 1.56.651.2. It will supposedly make the general performance of this device beter, and make a few small enhancments
Not Android 2.0
As mentioned earlier, this firmware update isn't an upgrade to Android 2.0. After installing it, the Hero will still be running version 1.5 of Google operating system.
Nevertheless, HTC has promised that an upgrade to Android 2.0 is being developed for the HTC Hero.
More about the HTC Hero
The HTC Hero was released last month by Sprint, making it this carrier's first smartphone running Google's Android OS.
It has a tablet-shape with a 3.2-inch HVGA screen, Wi-Fi, 5-MPx camera, and a GPS receiver, but no hardware keyboard.
It's also available in Europe, and from Verizon Wireless, but under another name: the HTC Droid Eris. AT&T is rumored to be planning to release it early next year.
