Samsung Omnia II Will Definitely Launch Next Week

Verizon has made it official: the long-awaited Samsung Omnia II is going to be released early in December.

It was first announced way back in June, and Verizon quickly committed to offering it. Five months later,it's finally going to hit the market.

And it has been somewhat transformed in those months, getting both a change in its looks and an upgraded operating system, to the latest version of Microsoft's Windows Mobile.

An Overview of the Samsung Omnia II
This soon-to-be-released smartphone will boast a number of enhancements over the original version.

It will still have a tablet shape like its predecessor, but with a 3.7-inch, WVGA (800 by 480), AM-OLED touchscreen. The current model has a smaller, lower-resolution touchscreen.

On top of Windows Mobile will be the second version of Samsung's TouchWiz user interface, which has been developed to make smartphones easy to control with a fingertip.

Its expected to have 8 GB of internal storage plus a microSD card slot, potentially bringing its capacity up to 40 GB.

This device will also sport Verizon's fastest version of mobile broadband: EV-DO Rev. A.

In addition, the Samsung Omnia II will have a 5 MPx camera, Opera Mobile 9.5, and more.

Pricing and Availability
Verizon plans to charge $200 for this model. Getting this price will require a two-year contract and $100 mail-in rebate, though.

The Omnia II will debut on Wednesday, Dec 2.
